Hello My Friends!

Had a hectic day at work yesterday.  Today I would like learn how to say 'you-know' in Polish...

Mój polski przyjaciele mówią, że przez cały czas, co robimy, ale teraz chcę wiedzieć, jak można by powiedzieć to samo w języku polskim!

Did any of that make sense?

Anyways, I'll give you an example...

Example:

You know Kath, these files can be filed under a different name... you know.  You can put them under, you know, miscellaneous or, you know, another name.

(lol, I told you they use it alot).

How Do You Say - "HOW DO YOU SAY"?

Ok, so this one took some work from my Polish friend, Kristina, to figure out what it was I was trying to ask:

Me:  Kristina, how do you say, how do you say... in Polish?

Kristina:  How do you say what?

Me:  How do you say, well, 'how do you say' in Polish?

Kristina:  Tell me what you want me to say and I will translate in Polish for you.

Me: Ok, that's what I'm trying to do.  How do you say... you know, like... 'how do you say... '

Kristina:  I don't know what you want!

Me: Grrrrr.. lol (I gave up and started to walk away since I had to get back to work before the boss came.)

Kristina:  Ah, you want me to tell you how to say, "how to say"?

Me:  Yes! Yes! That's it!

Kristina:  Yak to poviejiech....



So she finally told me and now I use it all the time around her but I would like to know
how to spell it right or is there another way of saying it? 
How do you say it to a male?

A lot of languages have 3 genders but Polish has 5!  Polski jest bardzo trudny!!

By the way, what is the difference between Polski and Polska?

I've read once on a polish forum:
From a beginners point of view, the best way to start learning polish is to become aware of gender, word suffixs and become vaguely aware of przypadek.

Learn about:

on - he
ona - she
ono - it
my - we
wy - you lot
oni - them

When you refer to yourself or other the suffixs can change. Jest (is) jestem (i am) jestesz (you).

That's a good place to start, once you've done that an understand how words are modified you'll be able to spot the base word easier.

So is this true?  Is this the best way to start learning Polish? 
I try to learn phrases and hopefully re-look at each phrase and learn from there!
